Projects/Events

Bio

Dorian Katz/Poppers the Pony is an artist based in the Bay Area since the 80s. She creates zines like Kid Unfriendly and Animal Sex Coloring Book in addition to her unending output of drawings.

She has organized art events and exhibitions in LGBTQIA+ communities for over 25 years. From 2011-2019, Dorian was gallery director at Center for Sex & Culture (CSC), a scrappy community space located in San Francisco. She was instrumental in placing CSC’s massive archive of pervy people’s history at stable, accessible institutions. Her experiences of life in the Bay Area, as well as her historical knowledge of it, deeply affect her perspective and art. She enjoys presenting inclusive views of sexuality with humor and beauty.

Dorian studied Studio Art. She received a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara and MFA from Stanford University. Her art has been exhibited nationally and published widely. She has received awards, grants and rude questions about her art by very fancy people.
